Dartmouth is a beautiful, historic small town. The villages and countryside of the South Hams are some of the most lovely areas of the country. With London 4 hours away and Birmingham only 3 hours, Dartmouth is surprisingly close! There is plenty to see, walks, fabulous eating, unusual shops, views to die for, river and sea trips, good pubs with local ale and so much more.
| Dartmouth dates back to the 14th Century, and is home to the world famous Britannia Royal Naval College. The Pilgrim Fathers stopped off to effect repairs to the Speedwell (sister ship to the Mayflower) in 1620. King Charles II stayed here at the Butterwalk in 1671 and the young Princess Elizabeth (now Queen Elizabeth) met her husband Philip at the College. |
